The cloaked bandit, face covered, looming out of the darkness - moonlight glinting off the barrel of a flintlock pistol. Noble robbers, folk heroes, or sadistic cutthroats? The myth of these outlaws, these so-called ‘gentlemen of the road’, has stalked English legend for centuries. A no legend looms larger than that of Dick Turpin.
